Born Under the Blazing Comet

Everything Luna has ever wanted — home and family — has just gone up in flames. Still grieving the loss of everything dear to her, Luna is beckoned by her canoe and the river to start a new journey. Alone, she searches. For what? A new life?

The river leads her to a village proclaiming to be Sanctuary for the Exotics and for the Comet Born. Curious because she was born when the blazing comet flew overhead, she enters despite the warnings of danger. There she meets the devious Harmonia and discovers the sanctuary is not a sanctuary at all, but a prison for the comet-borns like Luna herself.

After Luna escapes the sanctuary, she is determined to save the imprisoned comet-borns so they won’t be sold to enrich Harmonia. Putting herself into harm’s way, she saves the comet-borns.

As the other comet-borns rebuild their lives and use their gifts from the comet, Luna despairs that her own gift, entering portals of the dead, is useless. What can she do? Where does she belong? Will she ever find a home and a purpose for her own life?
